Charcoal vs. gas smokers: the question can land you in a fight in Texas. Some fans stand by charcoal because of the taste they say it gives to the meats. While charcoal will always have its fans and its one of a kind characteristics , gas meat smokers are an alternative for the newbies ~ newcomers ~ beginners} to learn the art.

            A gas meat smoker is a great way to get your feet wet and pick up the basics of smoking before you dive in with charcoal. Gas meat smokers are a bit higher priced than your run of the mill charcoal smokers, starting near 140 bucks for a cylindrical design with a water pan and at least two racks. Standard charcoal smokers start at about 50 bucks   for a similar shape and style.
